The cooperative

The Canadian Co-operative Wool Growers Limited was founded in 1918. From its inception, its primary mandate was to promote the marketing and collection of wool. CCWG is responsible for sorting and marketing approximately 2.8 million pounds of wool annually. Canadian wool is marketed worldwide.

Today, CCWG has 6 agricultural retail stores in Canada: one in Quebec, two in Ontario, one in Alberta and one in Manitoba.

The cooperative grades and markets nearly 3 million pounds of raw wool each year, the majority of which comes from Quebec, Ontario, and Alberta. Each of the three general wool grades (fine, medium, and coarse) is sold where the best prices are available..

The CCWG Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of the Canadian Co-operative Wool Growers Limited is composed of 10 directors across Canada, each serving a rotating two-year term. An Executive Committee is then elected annually from among the Board of Directors.
The Canadian Co-operative Wool Growers Limited is a producer-owned cooperative specializing in the collection, grading, and marketing of Canadian fleeces for domestic and international markets. The Co-op also operates an extensive network of retail outlets and distributors for agricultural products and wool clothing.

Election of directors

Any shareholder interested in an executive position is required to submit a nomination paper supported by three shareholders from the provincial sub-district in which they reside, at least 60 days before the provincial general meeting. Copies of our bylaws and nomination papers are available upon request from any branch of Canadian Co-operative Wool Growers Limited. All nomination papers must be received at the registered office by June 31.
